Size of basketball makes a difference also...


I think there's only about an 1" difference in diameter of the ball, but that's a relatively large increase in gap between the ball and rim, so makes for more margin of error and a more forgiving rim. Watching halftime fan shooting contests, the made shots have always seemed much higher to me at the women's games - maybe more skilled fans though :)
